Privacy Notice

1. Introduction

Skyway Services, trading as Skyway Facilities & Hygiene, respects the privacy of clients, prospective clients, employees, job applicants, suppliers, website visitors and other individuals whose personal information we process.

This Privacy Notice explains what information we may collect, why we process it, how it may be used or shared, and how individuals can exercise their rights. The Protection of Personal Information Act regulates the processing of personal information by public and private bodies and establishes conditions for lawful processing.

8. Job Applicant Information

Information submitted through the Careers page may be used to evaluate an application, verify employment history and references, contact the applicant, match the applicant to suitable opportunities, conduct lawful screening, prepare employment documentation, and meet client-site and legal requirements.

Submitting an application does not guarantee an interview or appointment. Applicant information may be retained for a reasonable recruitment period unless the applicant requests deletion and no legal or operational reason requires further retention.

9. Sharing of Information

Personal information may be shared with:

  • Authorised Skyway employees
  • Clients where reasonably required for service deployment
  • Payroll, accounting or administrative providers
  • Website hosting and information-technology providers
  • Professional advisers
  • Insurers
  • Banks and payment providers
  • Recruitment and verification providers
  • Government departments and regulators
  • Law-enforcement authorities where lawfully required
  • Other service providers processing information on Skyway’s behalf

Service providers should receive only the information reasonably required for their function. Skyway does not sell personal information to advertisers or unrelated third parties.

10. Cross-Border Processing

Some website, email, cloud-storage or software providers may process information outside South Africa. Where this occurs, Skyway will seek to use appropriate providers and safeguards consistent with applicable legal requirements.

11. Security

Skyway takes reasonable organisational and technical measures to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, improper disclosure, alteration, destruction and misuse. Measures may include access controls, password protection, restricted records, secure disposal, staff instructions, backups and appropriate service-provider controls.

No internet or electronic-storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

12. Retention

Information is retained only for as long as reasonably required for the original processing purpose, contract administration, legal and regulatory compliance, tax and employment obligations, dispute resolution, operational records and legitimate business requirements. Information may then be deleted, destroyed or de-identified where appropriate.

13. Direct Marketing

Skyway may send service updates or marketing communication where the recipient has consented, the communication relates to an existing customer relationship and is legally permitted, or another lawful basis applies. Recipients may request that marketing communication stop by using the unsubscribe option or contacting Skyway.

14. Cookies and Website Information

The website may use cookies or similar technologies for essential website functionality, security, form operation, performance measurement, analytics, and remembering user preferences. More information is available in the Cookie Notice.

15. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, a person may request:

  • Confirmation that Skyway holds personal information about them
  • Access to their personal information
  • Correction of inaccurate information
  • Deletion or destruction where legally appropriate
  • Objection to certain processing
  • Restriction or cessation of certain processing
  • Information about how their data is used
  • Withdrawal of consent where processing depends on consent

POPIA provides mechanisms for access, objection, correction and deletion requests, and the Information Regulator publishes the applicable forms. Requests may be subject to identity verification, legal restrictions and record-retention obligations.

17. Complaints

Concerns should first be submitted to Skyway’s Information Officer so that the matter can be assessed and addressed. A person may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator where they believe their personal information has been processed contrary to POPIA.

18. Changes to This Notice

Skyway may update this Privacy Notice when its services, systems, legal obligations or information-processing activities change. The current version will be published on this website.
